Homabed.com domain name added. January 13 2017

I recently obtained the Homabed.com web address and have added it to Cascaderailsupply.com as a way to get to the web site.  Now if you can only remember the product name "Homabed" then you will get to where the products are available.  It is just a way to make it easier for people to find us.

FedEx shipping added January 10 2017

I have now added the option for FedEx shipping.  Most packages will still be less expensive and faster going by USPS.  However, for panels and heavier shipments FedEx shipping can save a LOT of money on shipping costs.  Please take a look at the options on checkout and choose which one makes the most sense for you.

We are Moving! March 28 2016

Business has been growing since the beginning and was already straining the limits of my current facilities.  The increase since California Roadbed shut down really has me bursting at the seams.  Consequently we are moving to a new property with a much larger shop so I can meet the increased demand.   While this will help me get orders out faster in the long run, in the short run it is going to result in some delays.  Production will cease about May 1, and I anticipate being down for approximately two weeks.  All orders currently in will be shipped before the move.  I will continue to accept orders during the shut down and those will be the first ones made after I start again but please be aware that there will be a delay.  Thank all of you who have made this continued growth possible.  Also, thank you for your patience through this move and know that I will get your orders to you as quickly as I can.

California Roadbed closed March 03 2016

I have no specific knowledge of this but their web site is down, Google listing has them as closed and customers are reporting to me that they are finding them closed as well.  If this is incorrect I apologize.

This is as much a surprise to me as it probably is to many others.  I do not know exactly how this will impact my business going forward but I have already started to see an increase in orders.  The first thing I am concerned about is getting orders out to customers on time.  Current lead times are about two weeks.  If order volume increases significantly I might not be able to keep to that schedule.  I will keep it as short as possible but there might (I stress might) be some delays as I adjust to this news.  Please bear with me if there are delays during this transition time.

I want to let former customers of California Roadbed and potential customers know that although many of my products do not match their specifications I will be happy to match dimensions of their products so that you can complete your projects. Please contact me with your specific requirements and let me see how we can best serve your roadbed needs going forward.

Thank you for your patronage so far and I look forward to serving my existing and new customers for long into the future.

HO turnout pads for nos 7-10 and curved turnouts December 01 2015

Turnout pads for larger turnouts are available in both scale 12" and 18" high roadbed with either 45 or 30 degree bevels.  If you are ordering for curved turnouts I only need both the frog size and the curve radii if you are using FastTracks templates or jigs.  For other brands I will just need the radii for the turnouts.

The busy season November 28 2015

As we approach the Christmas holidays I thought a post about what to expect with your orders might be a good idea.  Business is picking up and I anticipate it being very heavy for the next several months.  Since orders are filled in the order they are received and I anticipate volume being very heavy, delays are going to happen.  I will do everything I can to make sure that there is no more than two weeks between receiving an order and shipping it but it might go longer depending on business.  The sooner you get your orders in, the sooner I can get them out.  Also be aware that this is a very busy time for the postal service so it might take longer for orders to get to you once I have shipped them, especially if there is severe weather along the way. Order early in order to receive your material quickly.

I want to thank all of my customers for their patronage and I will continue to do my best to serve you the best way I can.

Turnout pads in S, O and On3 November 17 2015

Turnout pads in sizes 4-6 have been added to S standard gauge, O standard gauge and On3.  These turnout pads are manufactured to fit specific turnouts and look much better than generic #4 or #6 ones do. Other sizes can be manufactured, please contact me for price and availablility.

National Train Show, Portland, OR, August 28-30 July 03 2015

I will be in booth 914 at the National Train Show this year.  If you are attending please stop by and say hello.  It is always nice to meet my customers in person and put a face with the names.   I will have products with me though that will mostly be HO bendable roadbed as that is my best seller.  If there is something specific that you want to pick up at the show and save on shipping (and sales tax for WA residents), please let me know what that is so I can get it made for you.  The sooner you put an order in, the more likely it is that I will have it ready for the show.  At some point before the show I will no longer be able to guarantee delivery though I do not know what that date is at the present time.  I look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it to the show.  See you there!

HO Homabed compatible roadbed now available June 05 2015

I have been making Homabed compatible roadbed from the beginning when I had customers ask me for it.  I simply treated it as a custom order.  Now, due to increased and steady demand, I have added it as a product in both the HO 30 degree and 45 degree collections.  Homabed 60 degree shoulder is the same as my 30 degree, it just depends on where you measure.  There are all variations of main line and branch line roadbed available.  These products are not intended for someone who is starting a new layout.  I have my other products for that.  But, if you are in need of these sizes to complete a project and are having trouble sourcing the roadbed then I am here to get the products to you.  As always, if there is something you need that is not on the web site, custom milling is available.

Price increase effective July 1, 2015 June 01 2015

One month from today marks one year in business for Cascade Rail Supply.  Growth from zero to now has been nothing short of phenomenal and I thank all of you who have made this possible.  While there have certainly been challenges along the way I am poised to continue to provide what I hope has been great products and service for a long time into the future.  Having said that, one year is also time to look at the profit and loss column and there has been too much of the latter and not enough of the former.  Consequently I have to announce a price increase to take effect on July 1.  This will generally be 10% across the board with a few products more and a few less.  While this is certainly not my favorite thing to write, it is necessary for the continued good health of the company going forward.  I hope you will understand and I look forward to continuing to serve this great hobby.

Site update for the HO scale sections April 06 2015

Major update to the HO section of the web site.  I have significantly reduced and simplified the number of items you see on the initial "collections" page.  Variations are now in drop down boxes under each item.  For instance all four variations of mainline (scale 18" high) roadbed, beveled bendable, beveled straight, non beveled bendable, non beveled straight are in a drop down box under Mainline (18") roadbed instead of being four different items that had to be searched out individually.  I have also made descriptions more consistent across the site in order to make your choices clearer.  Under the "Panels" section there are now options for panels from 4" up to 24" wide in 2" increments.  Please pay attention to the note there regarding shipping of the larger panels.  I will be rolling these style changes out to the other scales as I get time.  It should not take too long until you see the changes throughout the site.  I hope this makes your shopping easier and, as always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or want a product that you do not see listed currently.

Sn3 Symposium April 16-18 Bellevue, WA March 30 2015

I will be at the Sn3 Symposium and will have my S scale products available (standard and narrow gauge).  If you would like me to bring another size of roadbed or would like to reserve an order to be picked up at the symposium please contact me through the web site. I look forward to actually meeting some of my customers there and I am excited about seeing some great modeling!

On30 roadbed added March 02 2015

On30 roadbed in two thicknesses (scale 6" and 9") has been added along with turnout pads for Micro Engineering #5 turnouts.  Micro Engineering was kind enough to provide me with diagrams for all of their turnouts in all scales so I can make any of those now upon request.  The two thicknesses are 1/8" and 3/16" actual and a scale 6' across the top (1.5" actual).  Both have 30 degree shoulder bevels.

Customer reviews February 24 2015

I have added the capability for customers to post reviews for the products.  If you have used the products, please let others know of your experiences, so they can make a more informed choice regarding the roadbed.  Thanks.

O scale roadbed now available. December 29 2014

O scale roadbed is now up on the web site.  A few weeks later than when I had hoped but it is there none the less.  Currently cataloged in scale 12" high (1/4") and 30 degree bevels.  Other sizes and bevels are available upon request.

Custom cutting November 19 2014

There has been considerable interest from people asking me if I can make roadbed compatible with other manufacturers products.  The simple answer is yes, I can and will.  My desire is to make products that are closer to scale size and that is what my products reflect.  However, should you desire a product in a size that you do not see, please contact me and we will get it made and shipped out to you.  Whether it be from another manufacturer, prototype engineering drawings, or just your imagination, I am here to make the products that you need to make your model railroading better.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.  Thank you.

More new products October 13 2014

I have just added transition ramps for all of the HO scale roadbed sizes.  1.5% curvable with bevels matching which ever roadbed you wish to have.  I have also added 4" and 6" panels in both 12 scale inches (3.5mm) and 18 scale inches (5mm) thicknesses.

Newest products August 22 2014

I just added turnout pads in my scale 12"h and 45 degree shoulder collection.  This has been the most popular collection so far and seemed to be the best place to start.  I added pads for both Atlas code 83 and Walthers / Shinohara #6 Left and Right turnouts, again because of popularity.  If there is a product that you would like to see me make please let me know.  The list of what I want to do keeps growing longer but I am more interested in making what you, the customer, want to see.
